Biscane Mojito
When it comes to the history of the mojito, its origins are about as muddled as the mint used to make it. All we know for sure is that the cocktail is tied closely to Havana, Cuba.
Some say the mojito was invented by slaves working the sugarcane fields; others think that it was designed as a tonic by South American Indians. All we know is what’s ended up in glasses all across the world, a deliciously tart and sweet drink with a kick.
It’s usually made with white rum, but sometimes you want the freedom that comes with a drink at virtually any time of day. That’s why Seir Branch made Biscaine™, a rum alternative you can use to make a killer non-alcoholic mojito.
The recipe is simple, and the result is the kind of drink to send you straight to the beaches of Cuba.
To make a Biscaine™ mojito, you’ll use:
- 5-10 fresh mint leaves
- 1 ounce of lime juice
- 2 ounces of Biscaine™
- ½ ounce simple syrup
- Club soda
Don’t forget lime slices for the garnish!
How to Make a Non-Alcoholic Mojito
Our mojito mocktail starts by lightly muddling your mint leaves in the base of a cocktail shaker. You want to press hard enough to release the oils, but not so much that it bruises the leaves and tarnishes the flavor.
Once you can smell the mint, add the Biscaine™, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice. Then, give it a good shake.
Strain the results into a tall glass filled with ice. Fill the rest of the glass with club soda and add your lime slice to garnish. And from that point, all you have to do is sip your mojito mocktail and enjoy without guilt.
Mojito Mocktail Alternatives
Mint is the herb of choice when it comes to a traditional Cuban mojito. But if you’re experimenting with an alternative base like Biscaine™, you may want to consider playing with your drink in other aspects, as well.
You can substitute mint with fresh rosemary or basil, both relatively similar to mint in properties. Or you might want to branch out even further and muddle some lavender for floral notes or tarragon for a sweet and spicy flavor profile. You can also add any number of fruits, from pineapple to strawberry, mango, and even coconut! Anything that you can muddle or juice will make a perfect addition to this refreshing drink.
You’re safe to play with your non-alcoholic mojito because Biscaine™ provides a reliable foundation for all kinds of variations. Our rum alternative carries classic waves of sugarcane and molasses, everything you love about the traditional spirit without any of the heaviness or morning-after sickness.
Mojitos have had a place on the set of James Bond and in the hearts of literary icons like Ernest Hemingway. Now you can enjoy it too, be it as a midday pick-me-up or dinner with friends. Our Biscaine™ mojito is a treat for the senses, and you’ll never regret pouring yourself one more glass.
